05/31/2026 - Now Playing...
Hello, again!
This is the editor here to bring you a new update to 'Now Playing'.For this month, I made some slight changes to the format hopefully to encourage those that do read this blog to also check out some albums that have been on repeat lately. Thank you once again for your support. Here are some songs and albums for the month of June:
ALBUMS..
Lupe Fiasco
Food & Liquor (2006)
Favorite Tracks: 4,5,7-11,13
Track 8: Sunshine
My first ever CD was Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor. I loved 'Kick Push'so much that my parents got me his CD for Christmas that year. This was 20 years ago! Lupe's lyrical content added so much depth to my life at such a young age. I appreciate that he stayed true to his message because it did reach me. Tracks like 'Hurt Me Soul' and 'He Say, She Say' awakened me despite not having much experience with life and people at the time.
Clairo
Immunity (2019)
Favorite Tracks: 3-6, 10
Track 10: Sinking
I've only recently explored Claire Cotrill's albums and this project in particular warranted me to purchase a physical CD after listening to immunity on a roadtrip back home. Track 10's 'Sinking' is outstanding! Driving down the California coast to this album was quite ethereal.
The Internet
Purple Naked Ladies (2011)
Favorite Tracks: 1-4, 6-8, 10-14
Track 2: They Say
I first heard this album in early high school and it still holds up very well. I'm honestly quite surprised how much of it left an impression on me after all of these years! It took a lot of risks that I felt payed off because it has quite a distinct sound. At the time, I was deeply into OFWGKTA and affiliates so this record piqued my interest being that it was in collaboration with 'Matt Martians' of Super 3 and Syd (the Kyd) of Odd Future.
N.E.R.D.
Fly or Die (2004)
Favorite Tracks: 1-12
Track 6: Breakout
I have so many favorites from this album and it continues to inspire me to this very day. I first heard this album in middle school. I watched the movie 'Street Dreams' which was a skateboard film that had 'Find My Way', the bonus track from this album, as the song for the ending sequence. Fast forward, I'm out of the country for the first time and I have tracks like 'Breakout' and 'Jump' on repeat. I had once been given this CD as a gift, but I had unfortunately given it away.. Even so, I'm truly fond of this project. Its youthful expressiveness brings me great pleasure whenever I sing along to this album.
